Anthony Atkinson, 35, now of Hazel Street, Skegby, denied breaching his bail conditions when he appeared before magistrates in Mansfield, but the bench found that the breach had been proved.

It is alleged Atkinson committed criminal damage and assault by beating on June 15, and making threats to kill and assault by beating on June 27. He denies those charges.

He had been bailed on condition he did not contact the woman, or her daughter, and not to go within a mile of their address in Sutton.

Chloe Griggs, prosecuting, said: “There are substantial grounds to believe he will commit further offences if released on bail.”

Atkinson was remanded to custody until July 27 at Nottingham Crown Court where he will face the outstanding charges.
