Prestigious awards recognise individuals

At the age of 16, George Dove has already become an inspiration to thousands.

The Mansfield teenager has raised more than £60,000 for medical research, given talks to thousands - including at The White House - and all while dealing with Type 1 Diabetes.

Nominated for Child Fundraiser of the Year, George has raised thousands for diabetes charity, JDRF and will now attend the Institute of Fundraising National Awards later this summer.

As well as his fundraising work, George is also studying for his GCSE’s and preparing to give a speech on Diabetes at the House of Commons.

He said: “I feel really humbled. It is really nice to be nominated and get through to this stage.

“It feels really good to be recognised, it’s a great feeling but it has been a busy year.”

His mum, Emma said she is incredibly proud of her son’s achievements.

“He’s done really well. He has gone from giving speeches in Hawaii to the House of Commons later this year. I am so proud of him.”

Peter Lewis, chief executive of the Institute of Fundraising, said George and the other nominees are an inspiration to all.

“The dedication, passion, and commitment that they have demonstrated are an inspiration to all of us,” He said.
