“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closures programme.”

Eastwood Town Council is moving into the back of the Post Office and will be opening up their new council chamber and community hub in a few months time. Councillors are currently working alongside contractors and builders to create their new offices.

Eastwood councillor Keith Longdon said: “It’s in a great position for us and it’s great to finally be getting everything sorted.

“It will save us paying rents out and will save everybody money. It’s the public’s building, not ours because it’s the public who pay for it.”
