Poppy seeds to remember Great War

Members of Bulwell British Legion, together with representatives of the community, gathered at a site on the corner of Bestwood Road and Hucknall Road to scatter poppy seeds to make a memorial to mark the anniversary of the First World War.

It is hoped the site will be a picture of colour in September when the war began 100 years ago and act as a fitting reminder to the community of the fallen during the Great War.

City councillors from both wards agreed to jointly fund the planting scheme and were present, along with members of the armed forces and clergy.

There was a short service on Monday before the planting.
