Successful clothes shop seeks extension -- all the latest Ashfield plans

An extension to a popular clothes shop is among the first planning applications that Ashfield District Council has to decide on in 2026.

Just Perfect Style says it would be just the job if the council gave the go-ahead for a single-storey extension “to create a larger retail area” at its premises on Main Road in Jacksdale.

Kelly Ball, who runs the successful shop, has submitted the application, with the help of her agent, James Shaw, of the Selston-based company, JJS Architecture Ltd.

Details are scant at this stage, but the planning papers say the amount of internal floorspace at the store will increase from 98.4 square metres to 131.4 square metres if the plan is granted permission.

The tradable floor area would go up from 37.6 square metres to 65.6 square metres, while the scheme also includes changes to windows on the first floor.

Just Perfect Style, which sells clothes, footwear and accessories, employs one full-time member of staff and three part-time.

It is open from 9 am to 6 pm Mondays to Fridays, and from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The council’s planning officers are currently considering the proposal and have set a deadline date of Monday, February 16 for a decision or recommendation.

However, the scheme has already been given the thumbs-up by the council’s environmental health team. An officer’s email reads: “I have no significant concern that the proposed work would case significant environmental impact (noise, odour and contaminated land issues) to neighbouring properties. Therefore, I have no objections regarding this application.”

Other planning applications received by Ashfield Council in recent days include these:

48 Eastfield Side, Sutton – application for lawful development certificate for proposed demolition of existing conservatory and construction of single-storey rear extension.

Hangars 1 and 2, Rolls-Royce plc, Watnall Road, Hucknall – change of use for grade II listed aircraft hangar, currently used as storage, to new sports facility comprising eight padel tennis courts, changing rooms and staff facilities, plus refurbishment of existing facades, glazing and hangar doors.
