Small business aims to raise roof with expansion -- all the latest Ashfield plans
The proposed expansion of a small business in Sutton is among the latest batch of planning applications received by Ashfield District Council.
Ashfield Tyres, which operates from a property on Cursham Street, is a tyre dealership involved in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
The success of the business has prompted the boss to submit a planning application for an extension to the premises, allowing it to service many vehicles at the same time and also larger vehicles.
According to planning papers, this would involve “an increase in the building’s footprint and the height of the current flat roof”.

It would “expand its offerings and improve workflow efficiency, while adhering to health and safety regulations”.
A planning statement has been sent to the council by Ashfield Tyres’ agent, the Derbyshire-based company, ST Architecture and Design Ltd.
It says: “The planned extension at the front, combined with comprehensive internal reconfiguration, is designed to accommodate a second hydraulic vehicle-ramp.
"This would significantly enhance operations by enabling the simultanenous servicing of multiple vehicles.
"The increase in the height of the roof is to provide the safe elevation of commercial vans on the ramps. The current height restricts this capability, limiting the business’s ability to service larger vehicles.
"By raising the roof, the facility would comply with industry standards for vehicle-lift operations, ensuring adequate headroom for personnel and equipment.”
The council’s planning officers are currently considering the proposal and have set a deadline date of Sunday, February 1 for a decision or recommendation.
