Rubbish fly tipped on Sutton war memorial
and live on Freeview channel 276
Residents alerted the Ashfield District Council about the incident at the war memorial on Downing Street in New Cross.
After visiting the site, council officers declared it an environmental crime scheme and have launched a full investigation.

Hide AdCoun Samantha Deakin, ward councillor for Sutton Central and New Cross, said: “I would ask anybody who may have any information on this disgraceful incident to call the police on 101.
"Ashfield District Council has worked hard in the New Cross area for months to get on top of fly tipping.
"This is a new low, however, and we have launched a full investigation.
"I hope as a community we can come together and catch the thoughtless criminals who carried out his heinous act.”

Hide AdThe fly tip has now been cleared and officers will continue to investigate.
Coun David Hennigan, also a ward councillor for Sutton Central and New Cross, commented: “I’ve been involved in politics for more than 20 years and this is the worst, most disrespectful example of fly-tipping I have ever seen.
"I am appalled that anybody in this day and age thinks it’s okay to desecrate our memorial in this way.”
