The road repairs at Bramley Court, near Sutton-in-Ashfield town centre are set to get underway following a campaign going five back years, by Councillor Samantha Deakin.

Via East Midlands, which provides highways services for Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands region, has confirmed that the road will be closed for two days, from October 12

The resurfacing was planned to be done last year but was delayed due to a problem with materials and the coronavirus lockdown.

Councillor Deakin, who represents the Central and New Cross ward on the local council, was delighted the work is set to go ahead.

She said: “I have been working with residents for years now to get this road sorted. When I said two years ago that it was one of the worst roads in the whole County – I meant it.

"The cul-de-sac is home to more than 100 houses and looks like it hasn’t been re-surfaced for about 100 years. I made this a Highway’s priority in my first year as a County Council.

"I have repeatedly requested action on this road and others in the area. They have been promised repeatedly over the decades that this will get sorted. It just goes to show that by working together we can deliver results.

Councillor Deakin added: "I would ask the residents on Bramley Court to make sure there are no cars on the road, so the re-surfacing can be done as soon as possible.”
