New dental surgery earmarked for retail park -- all the latest Mansfield plans

A new dental surgery could soon be on its way to Mansfield, according to the latest bundle of planning applications received by the council.

The surgery is proposed for the shop unit currently occupied by Poundland at St Peter’s Retail Park, off Station Street, next to the town’s railway station.

The company behind the scheme is My Dentist, which runs more than 500 dental practices across the UK.

But the planning application has been submitted to Mansfield District Council by the scheme’s agent, Jonah Carty, of Rapleys, a nationwide firm, based in Manchester, which offers planning, property and legal advice.

A letter from Rapleys, sent to the council, says: “The site comprises a 626 square-metre unit, located at 5A on St Peter’s Way.

"The unit is currently occupied by Poundland. It is proposed to convert the property for dentistry use.”

Rapleys argues that a change of use is not required for the shop, so the application is for a lawful development certificate to switch to dentistry.

The council’s planning officers are currently considering the proposal and have set a deadline date of Monday, August 31 to make a decision or recommendation.
