New Broxtowe mayor is 50th person to hold the post
Coun Barbara Carr has been appointed as the 50th Mayor of Broxtowe following the council’s AGM on May 13.
Coun Carr (Brox Ind), who represents Beeston North, was first elected as a borough councillor in 2011.
Through her political career, she has been involved in a number of committees and working groups including as deputy chair of the housing committee, leisure and health committee, the Broxtowe Refugee Forum, the member development group, licensing and appeals committee, events, arts, culture and heritage working group and the policy overview working group.
She is very involved in her local community including roles as a school governor, exam invigilator and trustee of the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Her passion is for bringing communities together and people of all ages, nationalities and background and she hopes to continue this during her year as mayor.
During her time in office, she has committed to raise funds for Broxtowe Youth Homelessness and Age UK Notts, causes that are close to her heart throughout her mayoral year.
Coun Carr said: “I’m really delighted to take on the role of mayor.
“In my role as a councillor and during my time as deputy mayor, I’ve met so many wonderful people who work timelessly to support our community.
“I am really looking forward to learning more about their work and to recognising some of these people during the year.”
Coun Carr takes over in the role from Coun Robert Bullock (Brox All), following his successful year in office which saw him undertake 252 engagements and raise more than £9,500 for Broxtowe Women’s Project and The Brain Tumour Charity.
Coun Sarah Webb (Brox All), who represents Beeston Rylands on the authority, will assist Coun Carr as the deputy mayor of the borough.
