The ‘MP of the Year Award 2020’ is run by The Patchwork Foundation, a charity that champions underrepresented, minority or disadvantaged communities in the UK and gives individuals, and those from grassroot organisations, an opportunity to recognise the MP’s that have worked particularly hard for their community.

Ben Bradley’s nomination comes after his campaign on behalf of white working-class boys, where he has made significant steps forward to boost the profile of the challenge they face.

This progress includes a focus on disadvantaged working-class communities as part of the Prime Minister’s Racial Disparity Commission, which begins this summer.

Mr Bradley, who has been the Mansfield MP since 2017, said “It’s a true honour to be recognised for an award that values such fundamental work within disadvantaged communities.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working alongside many organisations that champion community work.

"I’ve worked closely with local colleges and schools in order to bring opportunities such as nursing degrees or more useful apprenticeships and I truly believe this will produce amazing results for us in Mansfield”.

The Conservative MP has focused on bringing a stronger emphasis to vocational training and supporting work-based learning, particularly to help those who might not wish to pursue an academic pathway.

He has worked with educational partners, including West Notts College and Nottingham Trent University, to bring exciting new programmes into Mansfield.

Esmat Jeraj, director of operations at the Patchwork Foundation said: "The MP of the Year Awards shine a spotlight on those Members of Parliament who go above and beyond to advocate for under-represented communities.

“This unique award is just one way through which we can showcase the tremendous work achieved by our elected officials - work that deserves to be recognised and celebrated.
