Global manufacturing giant in Mansfield seeks expansion at Ashfield offices
Large offices in Ashfield could help a thriving firm based in Mansfield to complete further investment and expansion.
Glenair UK, which is a global manufacturing giant in the aerospace, defence and technology markets, has its main headquarters at present at the Oakham Business Park in Mansfield.
It occupies multiple buildings there and also operates a logistics centre in Kirkby, supporting its UK and international supply chain.
Now the company, which employs more than 1,200 people, wants to grow further within Chad territory, and has identified a couple of office buildings, two storeys and three storeys in height, at Newstead Court in Annesley, within the Sherwood Business Park.

Glenair has submitted a change-of-use planning application to Ashfield District Council to use the premises not only for offices but also for research and development and/or light industrial purposes.
It expects to initially employ between 250 and 300 staff at the site, increasing to a maximum of between 600 and 700 “as operations expand”.
The application states that the headquarter-style buildings sit within a self-contained plot and includes about 700 car parking spaces. But they have been vacant since January 2021.
Spanning 8.6 acres (3.5 hectares), the site was well screened from Derby Road and its other boundaries by a dense belt of trees, woodland and vegetation. No external work to the buildings was proposed.

Glenair prides itself as “a manufacturer of interconnect solutions, specialising in advanced connectors, cable assemblies and provision manufacturing”.
It explains that its activities at the Annesley site would focus on:
ADMINISTRATION, including office functions such as finance, sales, human resources (HR), design, product management, procurement, IT, health and safety and legal issues.
TRAINING, supporting skills development required for the firm’s advanced manufacturing processes.
CONFERENCE AND MEETING FACILITIES for internal training, customer engagement and product demonstrations.
AND PRODUCTION, including light manufacturing and assembly in a clean, laboratory-style environment.
The council’s planning officers have already held preliminary talks with Glenair and are currently considering the full details of the scheme. They have set a deadline date for a decision or recommendation of Tuesday, May 26.
