Update on status of HMO in Sutton -- all the latest Ashfield plans
An update on the status of an HMO in Sutton is among the latest planning applications received by Ashfield District Council.
The property, at 9, Morley Street, was successfully converted into an HMO (house in multiple occupation) for five people in June 2024.
This was done under what is known as permitted development, without the need for formal planning permission.
Permitted development enables such conversions to go ahead providing the scheme involves a maximum of six occupants.

However, an application has now been lodged with the council for a lawful development certificate for an existing use at the Morley Street building.
It has been submitted by Niamh Beatty, a 32-year-old director of 93 Property Investments Ltd, which is a London-based company that deals with buying and selling real estate.
The application stresses that the property has been operating as an HMO for 19 months, after internal refurbishment, and is “fully compliant with HMO licensing and amenity standards”.
The council’s planning officers are currently considering the proposal and hope to make a decision or recommendation by their deadline date of Tuesday, April 7.
