Meanwhile, the authority’s head of finance, head of law and governance, head of people and transformation, head of housing and head of finance, now all earn £62,833 – compared to £59,160 since 2019, the report shows.

The head of neighbourhood services and the head of planning and regeneration are now paid £64,979, compared to £63,240 two years ago.

By comparison, the report states that the council’s lowest paid member of staff earns £17,942 per year – six times less than the most senior member of staff.

The report states: “The current salary scale for the post of chief executive was determined by an independent organisation having regard to the labour market rate for the position of a chief executive of a district council of this size, coupled with local market factors relating to salary.

“This included arrangements for annual incremental progression dependent on performance until such time as the post holder reached the top of the scale.”

The salary includes any expenses incurred for Mrs Barsby’s role as returning officer for council and general election votes in Mansfield.

All pay increases are in line with established council pay scales.
