Mayor's 500 Fund helps Mansfield athletics club get back on track

Andy Abrahams had pledged when he was elected in 2019 to donate 30 per cent of his salary to good causes across the district – and the latest round of handouts have been made this week.
Mansfield Harriers and Athletics Club was one of the beneficiaries to receive £500 from the Mayor’s 500 Fund, which will allow it to replace three broken steeplechase barriers and enable training and competitions to resume in the area

Hide Ad“I am so pleased to contribute £500 from my Mayor's 500 Fund towards this worthy cause,” said Mr Abrahams.
“This, along with the other improvements being made, should go some way into helping Mansfield Harriers AC on their return journey to their former glories.”There is an ongoing commitment and partnership between Mansfield District Council, the Radford Foundation and England Athletics to help the club soon get into its stride in the evenings too – thanks to new state-of-the-art floodlights at its track in Berry Hill Park.The £47,000 lighting scheme, which is currently underway, has been jointly funded by England Athletics, Mansfield Harriers and by £15,000 each from the council and the Radford Foundation.
The Radford Foundation is a charity set up by Mansfield Town Football Club owners John and Carolyn Radford, and is dedicated to giving a helping hand to the local community.
