Ashfield and Eastwood MP backs charity’s 'million-mile' mission to pick up lockdown litter

Lee Anderson is backing Keep Britain’s Tidy – Great British Spring Clean and is pledging to keep Ashfield and Eastwood tidy.He is calling on his constituents to ‘do their bit’ to help the charity achieve a million miles of litter-picking during a campaign running from May 28 – June 13, 2021.
This year’s tidy comes as the charity reported a massive increase in the number of people who started litter-picking during the lockdowns.

Hide AdThe charity reports that the number of its ‘Litter Heroes’ increased by a third in less than 12 months. In 2019, more than half a million ‘Litter Heroes’ collected just under a million bags of litter, weighing in around 4,308 tons.
The Great British Spring Clean, now in its sixth year, aims to bring individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils together to make a difference to the environment on their doorstep.
Mr Anderson said: “We are blessed to have access to so many green spaces. I frequent litter picks all year round and I am pleased to support this campaign.”
Keep Britain Tidy chief executive, Allison Ogden-Newton, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Mr Anderson for this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
