Council warning to fly-tippers after dump between Hucknall and Annesley cleared
Ashfield Council has warned fly-tippers they will face prosecution when they catch up with them and could be fined up to £50,000.
Rubbish fly-tipped on the A611 between Hucknall and Annesley earlier this month has now been removed by the council’s environment team.

The authority’s community safety team has since carried out an investigation and has identified several people believed to be responsible.
Actions are ongoing but the council took the opportunity to warn any would-be fly-tippers of the potential consequences of their actions.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the council said: “We are now progressing with enforcement action and are confident we will be able to recover the costs associated with clearing the waste through a successful prosecution.
“Ashfield Council is not responsible for clearing waste from private or unadopted land – this responsibility lies with the landowner.
“That said, we will intervene in certain circumstances, particularly where fly-tipping is causing a significant nuisance, poses a risk to public health or safety, or where there is a strong prospect of identifying and prosecuting those responsible, as in this case.
“Fly-tipping is a serious offence that damages the environment and communities.
"We will continue to take robust enforcement action against those responsible, including issuing fines and pursuing prosecution where appropriate.
“Residents involved in the unlawful disposal of waste can face penalties of up to £50,000 or imprisonment on conviction.
“We urge residents and businesses to dispose of their waste responsibly as it is their duty of care and to ensure any third parties they employ to remove waste are properly licensed and provide a receipt.”
