They aim to provide a stepping stone onto the skills and education ladder, building confidence to access further skills and training as a result.

Coun Matthew Relf (Ash Ind), executive lead member for growth, regeneration and local planning, said: “These organisations are vital in helping people across Kirkby gain the qualifications they need to help support getting them into employment.

"We have so many fantastic places supporting residents across Kirkby and these grants will help them continue their efforts and see more people land jobs.

“I would urge all of those who could be eligible for a grant to get in touch and find out more about how we can help.”

Dianne Holmes, of ATTFE College, said: “The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board is delighted to be able to announce the news of the community learning grants.

"Community Learning provides a range of benefits including developing life skills, improving employability skills as well as positively impacting on wellbeing and reconnecting communities.

“We hope that this new grant opportunity will provide a positive impact for residents of all ages in the Kirkby community, providing new and accessible opportunities for community learning.”

The closing date for applications is June 5.
