Cob shop to rescue after closure of takeaway -- all the latest Mansfield plans

A sandwich shop is hoping to come to the rescue of a Mansfield neighbourhood that has lost its hot-food takeaway.

The takeaway in Forest Town closed down because the owner retired. But The Little Cob Shop, on nearby Garibaldi Road, has announced plans to double up as a fish and chip shop to fill the breach.

The business has submitted a planning application to Mansfield District Council for a change of use so that it can operate as a cob shop from 8 am to 2 pm and then switch to a chip shop takeaway between 4 pm and 10 pm.

It would be open every day of the week, and extra staff would be taken on to cover the evening trading

The application has been lodged by Ajay Bokhiriya, who has hired David Garbett, of Sutton, as his agent.

A planning statement by Mr Garbett says the only external alteration required would be the installation of a vent extract at the side of the shop.

No extra parking spaces would be provided because there is unrestricted parking available on the road directly in front of the premises.

The council’s planning officers are currently considering the proposal and hope to make a decision or recommendation by their deadline date of Wednesday, January 28.
