Changes afoot at building in conservation area -- all the latest Mansfield plans
Changes to a former shop in a conservation area of Mansfield are among the latest batch of planning applications received by the council.
The distinctive three-storey building, which sits at 80, Nottingham Road, has been occupied by a shop on the ground floor, with living accommodation above.
But this mixed use could soon be brought to an end because a proposal has been submitted to Mansfield District Council to convert the whole of the property into one three-bedroom family house.
The applicant is listed as Mr T. Cornforth, and the agent for the scheme is Stephen Riley, of the Warsop-based planning and building design company, Ellis Riley and Son Ltd.

A planning statement, prepared by Mr Riley, says the building falls within the designated Nottingham Road conservation area but is not listed.
The plan was “to amalgamate the ground-floor commercial unit with the existing residential accommodation”.
No external alterations were proposed, so the appearance of the building would remain unchanged, and the existing shop front would be retained in full.
Grove Street car park sat next to the site, while storage for cycles and wheelie-bins would be provided at the back of the building.
Says Mr Riley: “The change of use is internal only. The proposal has been carefully designed to ensure it preserves the character of the conservation area."
He points out that the shop has been vacant for a long time, but the premises and location lend themselves to a family-sized home.
It was close to local services and public transport, while Titchfield Park was directly opposite.
The council’s planning officers are currently considering the scheme and hope to make a decision or recommendation by their deadline date of Tuesday, March 24.
