Major commitments include a new swimming facility at Hucknall, new adventure play offer at Lammas and extensions to fitness suites at both Hucknall and Lammas Leisure Centres.

It will also see concessionary rates for priority groups continue and the inclusion of apprenticeships, work placements and volunteering opportunities for Ashfield residents.

The leisure centres will become even more inclusive, with new sensory equipment in swimming pools, an online activity offer and a substantial community programme, including Feel Good Families events, holiday hunger clubs, activities in areas of deprivation and free under-17s holiday provision.

On top of this, a further £440,000 will be invested to reduce carbon emissions across all of the sites.

This means that the centres will be greener and running costs will be lower.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, council leader, said: “I’m delighted that we are renewing with Everyone Active for what will be another decade of success.

"We have built a great partnership and long may it continue.

“The brand new £15.5 million facility coming to Kirkby will see two state-of-the-art swimming pools, adventure play, a cinema, climbing walls and much more.

"The commitments within this new contract mean that our current facilities in Hucknall and Sutton will not be left behind.

“Let it be said that this is an outstanding deal for the district including social, environmental and economic improvements that will benefit Ashfield for years to come.”
