Police are stepping up patrols in Warsop and Meden Vale following a spate of thefts from vans.

Overnight on Saturday, September 16, eight vans in the area were broken into.

Each time, the van was entered by forcing doors or breaking windows and tools were stolen from a number of the vehicles.

Areas affected include Robin Hood Avenue, Maid Marian Rise, Cherry Grove, Short Street, Eastlands Lane and Egmanton Road at Meden Vale.

Inspector Nick Butler, Nottinghamshire Police’s Mansfield district commander, said: “As a result of the high number of incidents of theft from vans in the Warsop and Meden Vale districts, police and Mansfield District Council wardens are carrying out targeted activities in the area.

“If you hear or see suspicious behaviour please report this to the police using 101, or in an emergency situation 999.

“Van owners please be aware, and if possible take any valuable items out of your vehicles at night.”
