Police talk on searching for victims

Ashfield Post 16 uniformed uervices students recently learned about what is involved in police searches for missing persons courtesy of a Police Victim Recovery Officer and trainer with the dog handling team from South Yorkshire Police.

The officer took students through the procedure in dealing with someone reported as missing, from initial intelligence gathering through to the search dogs being called in.

The talk was concluded with a fascinating question and answer session
As many of the students wish to enter the military or the police force, they made the most of having a long-serving expert on hand to answer all of their questions.

Students Ross Johnson and Paige Bennett said: “It was a good experience as we have never attended anything like this before. It was good to have something new.”
