Police smash car window to rescue distressed dog
Officers in Bulwell were unable to swiftly locate the owner of the car so took the step of smashing a window of a car on Duke Street to rescue little Gizmo.
The owner of the car has been located and been given strong words of advice on the dangers of keeping dogs in cars on hot days.

Hide AdA spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “Please do not leave dogs in cars – even for a few minutes – as temperatures inside vehicles can rise rapidly, which can make dogs very distressed.
“When the weather is warm owners should always ensure that your pets have plenty of cool, fresh drinking water available to them.”
