A group of youths, including a number riding bikes, are being sought by detectives investigating a late night robbery in Kirkby.

A 23-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone in Kingsway just after 12.30am on Monday 25th April.

A 39-year-old man who was with the robbery victim was also assaulted but had nothing stolen from him. Both men received cuts and bruises.

It is believed that as many as six offenders were involved, all aged between 16 and 25. At least four of the group were riding bikes.

Detective Constable Chris Burton said: “We know that Kirkby town centre was quite busy at that time as people left pubs, restaurants and takeaways. It’s possible that someone saw this group of youths and may even know some of them.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who can help identify these youths, as well as anyone in the Kirkby area who may have recently been offered a second hand mobile phone, which may be the one stolen in this incident.” DC Burton can be contacted by telephoning 0300 300 99 99, ext 806 3731.

Alternatively, callers can ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
