Police have renewed their appeal for help from the public to help trace a vulnerable missing person from the Mansfield area.

Janet Bacon (74), has not been seen or heard from by her family since 1.30pm on Thursday. Her disappearance is out of character and there are concerns for her health.

Janet is described as around 5ft 3ins, of medium to large build, and with shoulder length grey hair and blue eyes. She was wearing dark trousers and a blue top. She also has a red metal walking stick and a black leather handbag.

Police now believe she may have travelled out of the area on a bus.

WPc Leanne Beecham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Janet’s welfare and health. Her family are extremely concerned and it is important that we speak to anyone who believes they may have seen Janet since Thursday.

“Janet regularly uses public transport to travel around Nottinghamshire and in the past has travelled into Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We believe Janet may have caught a bus from Mansfield and headed into either Nottingham city centre, Chesterfield or Alfreton. We are appealing to anyone that travelled on a bus after 1.30pm on Thursday who believes they saw Janet to contact us immediately.”

Extensive police searches have been undertaken since Thursday and are continuing.

Anyone who believes they have seen Janet or knows where she may be should telephone 0300 300 99 99.
