Police officially name bike crash victim

The motorcyclist who died following a crash in Forest Town yesterday morning has been formally identified.

Brett Cooke, from the Clipstone area, was riding a blue Suzuki motorbike in Crown Farm Way, in the Crown Industrial Estate, at around 7.30am yesterday (Monday 20th January 2014) when it collided with the central reservation.

The 27-year-old died on the way to hospital from multiple injuries.

The road was closed while the scene was examined and cleared and re-opened at around 2.20pm.

Tributes poured in on Mr Cooke’s Facebook page from friends and family following the accident and floral tributes were placed at the scene.

Sasha Fletcher wrote: “Another one taken too soon by a bike crash, I hate saying this, but RIP mate. Watch over your loved ones.”

Lucciee Hartley wrote: “Actually hard to believe Brett. It was only the other day you was round at my mums with us all having a drink. Gunna miss you and your funny laugh mate. Such a shame, They always take away the good ones.”

Christopher Carlin wrote: “So sad to hear the truth, just wish it wasn’t. God bless you and all your family in these difficult times and I know you will be watching over them all as you always did.”

Police are urging anyone who saw the crash, or believe they know what happened in the moments leading up to the collision, to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
