Police officers recovered 175 cannabis plants from a property in Mansfield this morning

Police visited the terraced house in Nottingham Road at around 1.15am today (November 29) after a door was reported to have been left wide open.

Inside officers found mature cannabis plants in four rooms across three floors, in two separate flats within in the property.

The electricity had been dangerously bypassed to the extent that the input into the house was melting - causing a severe risk of fire in the end terraced house.

Grid electricians had to disconnect the property from the grid immediately to prevent a fire.

No one was inside the property but enquiries are ongoing to establish who is responsible.
