Police name victim of Annesley fatal crash

POLICE have named a 22-year-old man who died following a road crash in Annesley.

It happened just before midnight on 28th February on a stretch of Annesley Road.

Jack Ashley, from Sutton, was travelling in a silver Ford Focus ST170 which left the road and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old woman, who was also in the car, was taken to King’s Mill Hospital with minor injuries.

Police believe there was a second vehicle, a silver Honda Civic Type-R, that had been travelling close to the Ford Focus.

Both vehicles were seen leaving the city centre in convoy between 11pm and 11.30pm, travelling north along Mansfield Road.

The cars then drove along Hucknall Road and on to the Hucknall bypass before turning on to Annesley Road.

Officers investigating the collision would like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles at any time along this route.

Police are particularly interested in anyone who saw the cars on Hucknall bypass.

Four people, a man and woman, both aged 23, and two 24-year-old men, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have all been bailed pending further enquiries.
