Police are appealing for anyone who was involved to come forward, in particular officers are keen to speak with four men and a woman who were seen heading towards Pilcher Gate after the incident.

DI Lee Young said: “There were people still out in Broadway even though it was the early hours of the morning so I am confident that someone saw who did this.

“Violence like this is unacceptable and it is an issue we cannot tolerate in Nottingham, so if you saw anything please contact us.”

Anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information should contact police on 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
