Police today have issued a CCTV image of a young girl seen walking alone along the A60, yesterday morning (16th February) in a bid to identify her.

The child was seen walking along the A60, close to Cuckney, and other reports received from members of the public stated she was seen close to the turn-off for Creswell between around 8.30am and 8.40am yesterday.

Numerous searches of the area and house-to-house enquiries have been conducted, to try and locate the girl and confirm she was safe and well.

Now police hope that someone will recognise the clothes worn by the child and tell them who she is. She is described as white, aged between five and eight years old, and was wearing a pink coat and carrying a back pack.

No child has been reported missing to either Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police.

A police spokesperson said: “The welfare of this young girl is the most important thing for us. We need to establish who she is to make sure she is safe. We would urge people to look at CCTV taken from a passing bus, and see if you recognise her.

“Relatives should have no concern about calling the police if they think she could be the one we are appealing for.”

Anyone who recognises the girl is asked to contact Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police on 101. The Nottinghamshire incident number is 133 of 16th February.
