Police hunting train abusers

British Transport Police is appealing for witnesses after a group of men verbally abused a woman on board a train travelling between Nottingham and Mansfield Woodhouse stations.

Officers would like to speak to anyone with information about the incident, which took place between 8.25pm and 9pm on Sunday, 8th December.

Police Constable Robert Spencer said: “The victim, a 22-year-old woman from Mansfield, was travelling alone when a group of men sat near to her and who were believed to be heavily under the influence of alcohol, began subjecting her to explicit and lewd comments and abuse.

“The victim felt intimated and threatened throughout the whole journey, and has been left extremely upset following the incident.

Officers have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV from the surrounding area.

PC Spencer added: “This was clearly an extremely distressing experience for the victim and I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to us.

“The group are believed to have left the train at Mansfield Woodhouse station”
