Police appeal after 'deliberate' car blaze spreads to Huthwaite home


Police officers are appealing for information after a car was set on fire in Huthwaite, which spread to a house.

The red Vauxhall Astra was destroyed but firefighters prevented it from causing significant damage to the house. No one was hurt.

The incident, in Barker Street, Huthwaite, at around 10.10pm on Sunday, December 9, is being treated as arson.

A police spokesman said: "Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 9.30pm to 10.30pm and may have dash-cam footage from Barker Street or Main Street areas of Huthwaite.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who has private CCTV in the area or anyone who was in the vicinity and saw something suspicious.

"Please call 101, quoting incident number 836 of December 9 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
