Plymouth Argyle may have beaten the Stags 2-0 this weekend but thanks to one of their generous fans Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance service scored a big win.

A big-hearted Plymouth fan donated his 50-50 half time draw ticket to volunteer collectors - and it won them a £270 prize.

Sutton Fundraiser Carol Newton, who has chosen the Air Ambulance for her charity this year told how her son Richard was given the ticket as he passed round his bucket collection at the match on Saturday.

Carol 63 said: “Richard was at the ground collecting with out other volunteers when a group of Plymouth fans asked what the good cause was.

“He said: ‘It’s something I hope you’ll never need’ and told them about the god work of the Air Ambulance.

“One of them said ‘The last time i came here I won the 50-50 half time draw and I’ve bought two tickets this time.

“You can have one of them and if it wins give the money to the Air Ambulance.”

To their delight the ticket was a winner and scooped £270 for the charity.

Carol added: “We thanked the Plymouth fan over the Stags PA, but we have no idea who he is. It was very generous of him.

“We are going to write to Plymouth Argyle and thank him.”
