Pleasley Pit hosts wildlife open day

PLEASLEY Pit Country Park, a reclaimed colliery site, has been designated as a nature reserve by Bolsover District Council - and to celebrate there will be a wildlife open day on 3rd July from 10am-4pm.

The park covers around 200 acres, containing trees, ponds and meadows, with many species of birds, butterflies and flowers inhabiting the site.

In contrast to the wildlife, the remaining colliery buildings, such as the winding houses, can also be seen and have been fully restored by volunteers.

Pleasley Pit Nature Study Group undertakes day-to-day care of the Park and offers a regular programme of guided walks, with easy access for all.
