MEDICAL services in Huthwaite are set for a shot in the arm with plans for a £2.6m GPs surgery.

Proposals have been announced for a new centre to replace Huthwaite Medical Practice on New Street.

Dr Elaine Ulliott, senior partner at Huthwaite Medical Practice, said: “We are delighted that plans are progressing for a brand new health centre in Huthwaite which will bring many new services for patients under one roof.”

The new building would be built on land off Sutton Road - just a few minutes’ walk from the existing site.

There are plans for a modern two-storey surgery with a pharmacy and additional services.

Patients are being given the chance to see the plans for the new building at a special event at Huthwaite Medical Practice on 25th May.

The drop in session takes place between 3-6pm and representatives from developers LSP Developments Ltd, Huthwaite Surgery and NHS Nottinghamshire County will be on hand to discuss and record any comments.

Residents’ opinions will be used to inform the planning application and business case.

Philip Winstanley, head of property services at NHS Nottinghamshire County, said: “We look forward to working with the developers, local people and staff to get their views for how the new centre will look.”

Work on the new surgery is expected to begin in November this year and could be completed by the spring of 2013.
