Plans for 75 new homes approved at Mansfield derelict former brewery site
Mansfield District Council has approved plans to build 75 new homes on a derelict brownfield site in the town.
The application for the construction of 75 dwellings with associated access, infrastructure, re-grading of site levels and car parking on land to the west of Great central Road, Mansfield, was approved at a meeting of the authority’s planning committee on Thursday (August 30).
The plans are for 12 flats/maisonettes, 21 two bedroomed, 40 three-bedroomed and two four plus bedroomed houses at the site which has been derelict since the closure of the former Mansfield Brewery.
The dwellings would largely be semi-detached and terraced, finished with red brick with grey tiled gabled roofs.
The site comprises 1.53 hectares to the north western side of the junction of Great Central Road with Littleworth.
Access would be taken from a single priority junction onto Great Central Road with on plot parking provided tothe dwellings with shared parking courts for the quad dwellings.
A planning statement from the applicant Wise Living Great Central Mansfield Limited states: “It is a derelict, previously developed site which at present detracts from the character of the locality. The site is unattractive and a potential magnet for antisocial behaviour.
“The site is in a sustainable area identified as suitable for regeneration by the Council. The scheme will deliver short-term jobs for construction contractors, engineers and suppliers.
It states that In the medium and longer term the scheme will deliver an attractive and high quality residential development scheme with households that will contribute to the local community and economy. Any section 106 contributions will be used on Titchfield Park for enhancing the play area with new equipment and safety surfacing.
