Pitch scheme withdrawn

The facility on Sutton Road would have been for a five-a-side facility with fencing, floodlights, footpath and grass bund,

But the planning application by applicant A Talton, in conjunction with Ashfield Rugby Union Football Club, the owners, has now been withdrawn.

The applicant had been in consultation with the locality team at Ashfield District Council, regarding the sports facility, which had initially included a netball court.

The locality team advised there was no requirement for netball in the Ashfield catchment and that proposal would become a “white elephant”.

However, no one from the council was available to comment on the reasons why the planning application had been withdrawn.
