PHOTOS: Fire left hundreds of pigeons dead

Hundreds of pigeons were incinerated in a blaze in Nottinghamshire this week and the family who owned them have sent photographs of the tragic scene.

Crews from the Hucknall and Stockhill fire stations were called to an allotment site on Lime Tree Road in Hucknall around 7.30pm on Sunday (October 4).

The pigeon loft was severley damaged in the fire, along with three sheds, two caravans and a propane cylinder.

He said: “It’s my Dad’s allotment and a lot of his pigeons have died in the fire.

“Sorry if anyone is offended by the pictures.”

A large wooden building, approximately 10 by 20 metres, also perished in the blaze.

Two jets, a thermal image camera and small tools were used to fight the fire, which was put out by 9.47pm.

The investigation is ongoing.
