Works in full swing at Bennerley Viaduct as projects take shape
Hard hats and hi-viz are the must-have fashion items at Bennerley Viaduct this summer.
Work to complete the viaduct access ramp after a re-design is now underway and contractors are now moving on to an adjacent site two to build small business units for Broxtowe Council.
Continuing work on the Bennerley Viaduct visitor centre will focus on fitting out the cafe and kitchen.
With this in mind, Nick Tooley, chair of trustees at Friends of Bennerley Viaduct (FOBV), has asked anyone viewing the viaduct from the Nottingham canal path, or heading for the path under the viaduct, to be aware of the big increase in the number of vehicle movements coming to the area.

He said: “Three contractors will be sharing the access road from Shilo Way at Naptha Kennels, so visitors should take extra care.
"The canal path to the viaduct viewing point will remain open with a slightly altered entry point, and people will still be able to use the path under the viaduct, except for a few days in October.”
To add to the general bustle of the area, the new junction on Shilo Way is not yet complete and the Bennerley View housing development is in full swing.
The viaduct’s eastern ramp and visitor centre projects, and the new business units, were funded by Kimberley Means Business, a Government initiative formerly called Levelling Up, now known as Funded by UK Government.
Following a poll of FOBV volunteers, Broxtowe Council has decided that the shared access to the visitor centre and the new business units will be named Woodiwiss Road, as the viaduct – and much of the infrastructure of the line it carried – was built by the firm of Benton and Woodiwiss.
