Warsop teenage sweethearts get ready to celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
A Warsop couple are getting ready to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary after marrying as teenagers.
David and Maureen Steel got married on March 6, 1976, at Mansfield Registry Office, aged 18 and 17-years-old.
They were joined by two witnesses and their wedding reception consisted of a fry-up and a glass of sherry at Maureen's mums house.
David worked as a coal miner at Welbeck Colliery while Maureen worked at a factory, then five years into their marriage they welcomed their twin girls, Amy and Beth.

They lived in Welbeck before moving to Warsop where they still live today.
Their daughter Beth said: “They have shared many chapters since their wedding day and they hope to have many more ahead. This year they are celebrating their love for one another with family and friends.”
Their celebrations include a family holiday to Rome later this year and they will be spending their anniversary with their daughter’s in London, who have some surprises up their sleeves.
Beth said: “They both still love putting their glad rags on and going out, wining and dining each other, and dancing too.

“They have wonderful friends, and a much adored family, but they still love nothing more than holding hands over a dinner for two.
“And they say their secret to a long and happy marriage has been respect, honesty, laughter, attraction and romance.”
