Vital hub for people with learning disabilities in Mansfield to reopen offering 'reduced' service

The Adventure Service, based in Mansfield Woodhouse, specialises in delivering outdoor learning experiences from climbing to canoeing to adults and children with learning disabilities in the area.
But the centre, along with a second base in Top Valley, was forced to close on March 24 after the country plummeted into lockdown in order to minimise the spread of Covid-19.

Hide AdSInce then the centre has been offering live Facebook sessions and individual video calls, as well as sending out activity packs to service users.
Now the hub has announced it will reopen on June 15, offering a reduced day service called The Adventure Service Lite.
April Uylatt, trainee outdoor instructor as The Adventure Service, said: “The support among The Adventure Service staff during this difficult time has been brilliant.
“It is amazing to see everybody rise to the challenge, to adapt to a new way of working and to ensure that we are still able to support those who attend our service.”

Hide AdThe reduced day service will offer the opportunity for ‘adventurers’ to attend one day per week.
Mansfield Woodhouse will be able to hold a day service for two groups averaging 10 adventurers per day, or five per group.
To support social distancing the centre will also be running staggered start and finish times.
