Janice Dixon, of Dixon and Young vets in Ollerton, received a call last Monday (February 24) after a member of the public found the young male horse tied to a gate on Mansfield Road in Farnsfield.
Ms Dixon, who also volunteers with charity Help For Horses, collected the horse and put out an appeal to find the owner.

The vet has since been contacted by a number of people explaining who the horse belongs to, including one person claiming to be the owner.
Help For Horses said that the horse remains in their care and that they would look after him until they were sure that they were giving it back to the correct owner.
Describing the horse, Ms Dixon said: “The animal is a black and white colt with blue eyes, judging by his teeth I suspect he was born some time last year.

The charity has called him Cauliflower to go with the horses they currently look after: Bubble, Squeak and Sprout.
