A search of the vehicles did not uncover a firearm; however, officers recovered a large quantity of cash from the boot of one vehicle.

Three men, aged 43, 35 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property. They remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Luke Waller, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Based on information available to us, we had reason to believe one of the suspects may have been in possession of an offensive weapon, potentially a viable firearm.

"While no firearm was recovered, we understand the concern and potential harm associated with weapons of this nature, and we take all reports extremely seriously.

"These arrests were the result of a coordinated operation involving multiple police units. We remain committed to pursuing intelligence-led investigations and doing everything we can to keep dangerous weapons off our streets and protect our communities."
