That response has enabled the county and partners to successfully assist in over 960 requests for support from vulnerable residents who have found themselves either in self-isolation or without the assistance of friends or family.

Coun Kay Cutts, leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “At this difficult time, it is heartwarming to see people react with such kindness and neighbourly spirit.

“I have been overwhelmed by the stories I have heard from throughout Nottinghamshire of people going above and beyond to help others less fortunate than themselves. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect all of us and will continue to do so for some considerable period of time.

“The virus is still live and spreading and it is therefore vitally important that our volunteers continue with their offers of help wherever and for as long as they possibly can.

“Their fantastic enthusiasm and efforts will prove crucial in enabling us to come out of this stronger.”
