Sutton's Amazon centre donates £1,000 to charity

Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity aims to ensure patients receive the best possible care and treatment available at its three sites.

The donation will be used to support the charity’s End of Life Service Improvement Programme, where it will create an “End of Life” room in multiple wards. The rooms will allow patients and their families to be together in a calm environment for those who are on an end-of-life pathway.

Georgia Akuwudike, site leader at Amazon in Sutton, said: “Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity is just five minutes away from our fulfilment centre and we wanted to support its staff and volunteers with this donation.

"The End of Life Service Improvement Programme will benefit families in our community and we are pleased to make this donation on behalf of our team at Amazon in Sutton.”

Shirley Higginbotham, director of corporate services for Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity, said: “We would like to thank Georgia and the team for this donation.

"Our End of Life Service Improvement Programme will allow us to give extra support to patients and their families during a very difficult time.

"It is thanks to donations from the local community and businesses that we are able to carry out work like this within our three sites.”

Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity received the donation as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
