Lisa McLernon will go the extra mile- just over three miles, to be exact- when she sets off on the charity run in Brierley Park, Huthwaite this weekend (Saturday, May 30).

The 40-year-old, who is originally from Derby but has lived in Sutton for five years, wanted to keep fit during lockdown so decided to embark on the Couchto5k programme.

She has also been helping source PPE for healthcare workers as well as arranging and donating supplies to hospitals and care homes throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

"I'm finding the training a bit tough as I've not run in a while but i'm determined to do it and hope to raise as much money as I can.""I'm finding the training a bit tough as I've not run in a while but i'm determined to do it and hope to raise as much money as I can."

Lisa said: “I decided a week into the Couchto5k programme that I wanted to raise money for hospitals, just to make a bit of difference.

“So I'm raising money for Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity, Chesterfield Royal Hospital Charity and Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity.

“The money will go towards medical equipment and supplies and help with mental wellbeing for staff and resources.

“I'm finding the training a bit tough as I haven’t run in a while.

“But i'm determined to do it and hope to raise as much money as I can to help those who are working so hard for us in these difficult times.”

Lisa is hoping to hit a £500 fundraising target and has raised £145 so far.
