Sutton man who died in Derbyshire road crash was over drink-drive limit

Ben Hemstock, of Byron Avenue, Sutton, died when his Ford Kuga car veered onto the wrong side of the road and into the path of another vehicle on the B6025 Alfreton Road, at Tibshelf, on September 29, 2019.

An inquest at Chesterfield Town Hall, held behind closed doors because of the coronavirus lockdown, heard the cause of Mr Hemstock’s death was multiple head injuries and ethanol intoxication.

The record of inquest released by Chesterfield coroners’ court says: “The deceased had consumed an amount of alcohol which placed him over the prescribed limit for driving.”

Assistant Derbyshire coroner Emma Serrano recorded an accidental verdict at the inquest held on Tuesday, April 7.

Mr Hemstock worked as a sales person and was born in Sutton.
