Copper, a tiny beige Chihuahua Cross with white paws and a ‘big personality’ disappeared from the garden of 85-year-old Adrian Bingley MBE on Kirkby Folly Road, Sutton, on December 15.

After a family’s frantic search Copper was rescued after his twin Snoop found him stranded in a hole near Orchard Drive, two days later.

They had left Copper, Snoop, their Dachshund Teddy and Yorkshire Terrier, Milo with Adrian, who is Alice’s granddad.

After discovering Copper had disappeared from the garden, the devastated family launched a campaign. Alice searched the streets and appealed on social media, whilst Ann and Paul posted posters and leaflets.

Alice contacted the Chad asking for help. She said: “Everyone is missing him so much, we are all in tears. I feel like my heart is going to shatter after losing him. We need help to find him.”

But just as the story was about to be published, Alice heard the unexpected news on Thursday that Copper may have been spotted in the Bluebells area.

The family rushed to Orchard Drive, where a resident reported a dog crying since early in the morning.

Alice said: “We rushed over, we couldn’t see him, Snoop spotted him. Copper had got himself stuck in a hole, trapped between a fence and shed.

"Apart from being very thirsty and hungry he was okay. When Snoop found him, the first thing he did was growl at him! He told him off!”

She added: “I just wanted to thank the community, lots of neighbours who were concerned. Thanks to the Junction Pub who had put the message out on their social media and someone spotted it. I'm also grateful to DogLost for creating his lost posters.

"It’s been an emotional reunion but we are very happy and we are glad he is home.

"It’s thanks to Snoop, Copper is home. He makes me laugh, for a little dog, he has a big personality. He doesn’t seem any worse off for his adventure.”
