Kingfisher Court Care Home held the exotic baking day to support the Alzheimer’s Society and raised £574.

Residents and staff enjoyed a day full of activities, such as ‘hook the flamingo’ and a hula hoop challenge, as well as taking part in a tombola raffle, with residents and staff donning Hawaiian garlands, hula skirts and palm tree headbands throughout the day.

Plenty of homemade cupcakes and mocktails were enjoyed by all and even an ice cream van made an appearance.

While families are unable to visit, the home wanted to ensure they felt included in the day, so shared pictures and videos of their loved ones enjoying the event on social media, as well as setting up a JustGiving page to allow them to donate.

The home also received donations from staff members and the local community.

Jeremy Dignum, home manager at Kingfisher Court, said: “We had a great day and everyone joined in with the Hawaiian theme.
